Key Stage 3

Year 7

Classwork

Assessment

Mini topic tests are carried out at the end of every individual topic that you can see on the learning journey.

Each student then has their individual test analysed, identifying where they are excelling and where they still need help.

This is where the students will have a lesson for feedback, allowing students to work independently on their weaknesses using sparx. On the left you can see an example of this, with the colours showing clear indicators on topics the student needs to work on. Within the lesson, they will type in the code relating to this question, watch videos, and have help from their teachers to make a start on correcting their mistakes.

End of term and year assessments are then used in the year to collect data based from the topics they have covered in the year up to that point.

This gives us flexibility of moving students within classes, to make sure they are exactly where they need to be, but also where students need intervention with areas of weaknesses.

Our starters also offer support with areas of weaknesses, where we can use questions the class have struggled on, and allow the students more time to see the type of question, gaining practice over time.

Our learning journey shows the titles for the topics for the full year, relating to the different areas of mathematics.

In some areas, you can see the cross over topics, where we start to link the different aspects of maths, looking at problem solving and interleaving topics for students to make those connections more fluently.

In this Question level anaylsis, you can see it says Higher.

We have adapted our topic tests to make sure all students are challenged, and all students can access the maths relevant to their ability.
